Happy Holidays, Loved Ones! After a couple of serious scares with Jack's declining health, we are happy (and relieved) to have made it to the holidays. Now, proficient in the use of nebulizer, oxygen and suction machines, we are managing Jack's breathing/swallowing issues with less panic (usually). Despite all that is happening with Jack's body, he is a happy boy! During on of our "scares" Jack did not eat anything for a full 48 hours. Were we panicked? Yes. Was Jack? Not at all. He was happy as can be. Sleeping more, but not irritable in the least. He's always been a happy boy. Except when he's teething. This week, 6 teeth have decided to push their way through his little gums. Jack now enjoys baby Tylenol and Baby Orajel as appetizers before his bottles... okay, "enjoy" might be a strong word. Orajel is nasty tasting stuff -- trust me on this! As to the dilemma of what tasty treat to give Jack on his birthday, we've tried a couple goodies. First, we were saving ice cream for the big day. When we gave it a test run, Jack started crying! I think it was too cold! That was kind of sad for us. We had the video taping; we were so excited. So then we tried (warm) vanilla pudding. Well, he didn't cry, but he didn't really get excited about it either. Then, the other day, we tried chocolate pudding. He actually seemed to enjoy that more! A man after my own heart... So, I think we're going to stick with that, and in the meantime, Uncle Larry wants to try give Jack some cake frosting. Yummy! We'll try to include some pictures of Jack's birthday. Until then, we wish you a Merry Christmas! |
